TBM was part of Plug and Play’s New Materials & Packaging Batch 2 accelerator program in our Silicon Valley headquarters in 2016. Through this program, Plug and Play supported TBM with business development with corporations that were partnered with us at the time. Not only was TBM one of the few selected Japanese startups that have gone through our accelerator program in Silicon Valley, but they were also one of the most sought-after startup by our partners and network as well. TBM became the first Japanese startup to win the Expo Winner Award, an award chosen by the audience at our Expo event which is the culmination of the program.
Japanese startups who manage to make a global impact at an early stage is still rare today. I joined Plug and Play in 2014 and had the opportunity to see TBM create immediate interest and engagement through our program. As someone who has made it their mission to bridge the Japanese startup ecosystem to the world, their story serves as an inspiration to not only myself, but to all Japanese startups looking to scale globally.
